Condition
HIV Infection
HIV is a virus that infects the immune system's CD4 cells, gradually weakening the body's defenses against other infections. Enfuvirtide has the strongest evidence, and a phase III trial found it lowered viral load more than an optimized background regimen alone at 24 weeks in people who had already tried other HIV medicines. Those results mostly apply to people with that history and to 24 weeks, so they say less about longer-term outcomes.
