Condition
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Percutaneous coronary intervention is a procedure that uses a catheter and usually a stent to open a narrowed heart artery and restore blood flow. The evidence is strongest for bivalirudin, which brought less major bleeding than heparin plus another clot-blocking drug, and eptifibatide, after which fewer people had a death or heart attack following stenting. Eptifibatide's findings came from one trial of about 2,000 people followed for six months.
