Supplement
Banaba leaf comes from a tropical tree, Lagerstroemia speciosa, and contains compounds such as corosolic acid that are thought to help cells take up sugar from the blood. People mostly look at it for blood sugar in type 2 diabetes, and the one study found blood glucose came down, though the evidence is limited. That trial was tiny, with only five participants, so it shows a hint of promise rather than a clear answer.
