Supplement
Lutein is a yellow-orange carotenoid that gathers in the macula at the back of the eye, where it helps filter light and supports retinal health. People mostly look at it for nearsightedness progression, though the evidence for that use is limited. Research in 117 people with obesity found no clear difference in blood pressure or apolipoprotein B, and that evidence is very limited too.
