Nondigestible Fermentable Carbohydrates

Nondigestible fermentable carbohydrates are plant fibers and similar sugars that pass through the small intestine intact and are fermented by bacteria in the colon, feeding those microbes and producing short-chain fatty acids the gut lining can use. Little research on them has been reviewed here so far, so there are no findings to report yet. Until more studies are covered, it is hard to say who might benefit or how large any effect could be.

Limited research. We have no graded clinical outcomes for Nondigestible Fermentable Carbohydrates yet.
