Condition
Food Allergy
Food allergy happens when the immune system reacts to a food as if it were a threat; milk, egg, peanut and shellfish are common triggers, and a reaction can range from hives to anaphylaxis, which needs emergency care. A 2025 review of 13 trials in 1,608 children found that probiotics probably do not ease eczema in babies with cow's milk allergy, and whether they help children outgrow the allergy is still uncertain.
