Condition
Hemophilia
Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder in which too little of a clotting protein, factor VIII or factor IX, means bleeding lasts longer, often into joints and muscles. Desmopressin has the strongest evidence, and studies found it raised factor VIII activity two- to four-fold, enough for minor surgery in mild hemophilia A without factor concentrates. Those findings concern mild hemophilia A; vitamin D and calcium for bone health have only moderate evidence.
