Condition

Primary Biliary Cholangitis

Primary biliary cholangitis is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the small bile ducts in the liver, so bile builds up and damages the liver. Vitamin D and calcium have the strongest evidence, mainly for bone health, since fat malabsorption can leave levels low and osteoporosis risk is high. For bile flow, one very small study of 12 people found cholestasis went down with TUDCA, but that evidence is limited.
