Condition

Peri-implant diseases

Peri-implant diseases are conditions affecting the gum and bone tissue around dental implants, much like gum disease affects natural teeth, and they involve inflammation driven by bacteria that can wear down the supporting bone. Vitamin D and calcium have been looked at most, because of their role in bone health, but little research on them has been reviewed here so far. Omega-3s and probiotics are also being explored, though the evidence for all four is limited.
