Running Performance

Running performance depends on aerobic capacity, how efficiently your muscles use oxygen, and how much of your top effort you can hold, plus recovery between sessions. The evidence is strongest for caffeine and beetroot juice, and trials found caffeine improved anaerobic capacity while nitrate improved measures of aerobic exercise. Those studies were small, some involving only a few dozen people or fewer, so the findings are encouraging rather than settled.
