Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders
Functional gastrointestinal disorders are conditions in which the gut doesn't work as it should even though no structural damage shows up, with irritable bowel syndrome the best known, alongside functional dyspepsia, constipation and bloating. Probiotics and enteric-coated peppermint oil are the supplements with the strongest evidence, but little research on their specific findings has been reviewed here so far. Because effects of probiotics vary by strain, and other options like psyllium, ginger and artichoke leaf have only moderate evidence, it's still early to say what works best.
